Mission

The Mission of Hitchcock I.S.D. “Kids First” Head Start is to provide low–income disadvantaged, preschool children and their families with the tools that will empower them to develop fulfilling, productive and satisfying lives.

School Policies

You must be on the student's emergency list to pick up a child. We cannot accept an addition to a child's emergency list over the phone.
Transportation changes will not be accepted after 1:30pm. Bus changes are not allowed.
Parents must have IDs when entering the building.
Do not park in the fire lane.

The two squares represent early childhood by suggesting building blocks.
● The arrangement of the blocks represents stairs by which this can be accomplished.
● The vertical stripes represent the child and parent side by side.
● The arrow pointing upward represents the direction out of poverty and on to
the future.
● The colors, red, white, and blue represent the United States and the many opportunities it provides for its citizens.

Campus Goals

Goal 1: Make academic achievement and student performance the priority of Hitchcock ISD

Goal 3: Maintain a safe and disciplined environment conducive to learning

Staff will review rules and expectations regularly, to help students stay on task and focused.
Staff will develop and agree on a set of guidelines for acceptable classroom behavior, based on the idea of mutual respect and everyone’s right to learn. We will enforce these guidelines consistently.
Behavior specialist to help teaching staff with challenging behaviors (refer to Head Start Regulations)

Goal 5: Parent and Community Base engagement

Staff will maintain activities that will keep families and community connected, such as the Galveston County Food Bank.
Involve the parents and community by holding monthly themed events. (Ex. Parents: Dads day, Moms day, Grandparents day, Community: Fire Safety, Drug Awareness, and Dental Health. Also have Holiday themed programs with student performances.)
Invite parents and the community to get involved in any and all activities held at KFHS. On the flip side of this, parents are to be involved in community events and other school related events.
